  • From $80/month — no deposit, no contract

Why Month-to-Month

Storage on New York's timeline, not a 12-month contract

Most storage companies are designed for people who know exactly what they need and when they'll need it. New York City doesn't really work like that.

Say your subletter moves in on the 1st, but the new apartment isn't ready until the 15th. Your stuff needs somewhere to go for two weeks, and a moving company's storage fees are brutal.

Urban Stash is built for situations like this. Month-to-month means you pay for the time you actually need — not a year-long commitment to a warehouse you'll visit twice. No deposit to get back. No penalty for leaving. Just book a unit today and cancel when you're done.

We Meet You Where You Are

Built for the ordinary complexity of New York life

Temporary storage in NYC has a specific user: people dealing with more moving parts than most cities manage in a decade.

Between leases or subletting

The gap between one lease ending and another beginning is the most common reason people search for short-term storage in New York. Two weeks, a month, two months — you need somewhere secure and accessible that doesn't cost more than your first month's rent. Large units hold a full studio or one-bedroom's contents. Book for as long as you need, cancel when you're done.

Renovation or renovation overlap

Renovations in NYC apartments almost never go exactly to schedule. Whether you're moving out temporarily while work is done or clearing a room to give contractors access, a month-to-month unit is cleaner than stacking furniture in a hallway and hoping for the best.

Roommate changes

The moment a roommate leaves and you're absorbing their bedroom, the apartment that seemed fine suddenly feels crowded in a new way. Or you're taking on a roommate and the second room needs to become theirs. Either way, a short-term unit while you figure out the new configuration beats forcing a decision about the furniture.

Seasonal overflow

Sometimes there's no crisis, just an apartment whose closets hit their limit years ago. The ski gear, the camping equipment, the luggage collection eating half a shelf. A small unit at $80 a month is often less than the mental overhead of stepping over those things every day.

Working in NYC temporarily

If you're in New York for a project, a semester, or a stretch you're not sure the length of, temporary storage shouldn't be a permanent commitment. Urban Stash doesn't ask you to predict the future. Book month-to-month, keep what you need close, and let the rest live somewhere dry and secure.

FAQ

Everything you want to know before booking

What makes this short-term storage — can I really rent month-to-month?

Yes. Every Urban Stash rental is month-to-month. There's no long-term commitment, no minimum lease period, and no penalty for ending early. We ask for 30 days' notice when you're ready to move out. That's it.

Is there a deposit?

There's no deposit. You can start your rental without putting any money down upfront beyond your first month.

How quickly can I get access after booking?

Access to the Urban Stash app — your key to the building and your unit — is sent after booking. You can move in on your scheduled start date without coordinating with anyone in person.

What size unit do I need for a between-lease hold?

It depends on what you're storing. Our large unit (10'w × 4'd × 7.5'h, ~40–80 sq ft) holds a full studio or one-bedroom's contents including furniture. Medium units (6'w × 4'd × 7.5'h, ~24 sq ft) are better suited to boxes, a bike, and a few furniture pieces. Our sizing guide walks through it in more detail.

How does the no-key access work?

After booking, you'll receive access to the Urban Stash app, which controls both the building entrance and your individual unit via smart lock. Your phone is your key. If you get a new phone or need to update your access, support can sort it out quickly.

What are the access hours?

6:00 AM to 12:00 AM (midnight), daily. No appointments, no front desk, no exceptions to negotiate. Just tap and go.

Can I store a bike in a medium unit?

Yes. Medium units (6'w × 4'd × 7.5'h) fit most standard road and city bike frames, with room for additional gear alongside. If you have an oversized or cargo bike frame, check the dimensions before booking.

What's included with every unit?

Smart-lock access via the Urban Stash app, 24/7 security camera monitoring, and a protection plan from day one. No additional setup fees.

Do you serve the Lower East Side?

Yes — from the same place. 24 Avenue B is a single location that also serves the Lower East Side, including Chinatown, Two Bridges, NoHo, and Nolita. Same month-to-month pricing and app-based access, whichever neighborhood you're coming from.

What if I need temporary storage in NYC for just a few weeks?

All rentals are month-to-month, so you're never paying for more time than you need. If you move in mid-month, your billing reflects your actual start date. There's no minimum beyond one month.
